Jimi Wanjigi Speaks Out: "I Was Inside My Home During Muthaiga Raid

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has made headlines again after revealing that he was inside his Muthaiga home during a high-profile police raid last Thursday. The multi-agency operation, which was ostensibly launched to gather evidence, has sparked widespread interest and controversy. In a recent interview, Wanjigi shared his perspective on the raid, his involvement in the Nane Nane protests, and his thoughts on the actions of law enforcement.

1. The Muthaiga Raid

Last Thursday, a multi-agency team raided Jimi Wanjigi’s residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi, in an effort to collect more evidence. The police camped outside his home for hours, eventually breaking in around midnight. Despite their efforts, the police were unable to locate Wanjigi, leading to speculation about his whereabouts.

In a subsequent interview with Citizen TV, Wanjigi revealed that he was indeed inside his home throughout the raid. However, he chose not to disclose further details about where exactly he was within the residence or how he managed to avoid detection.

2. Wanjigi’s Account

Wanjigi recounted watching the raid unfold from within his home, claiming that the police not only failed to find him but also threatened his family during the operation. He expressed his dismay over the manner in which the raid was conducted, linking it to his participation in the Nane Nane protests earlier that day.

According to Wanjigi, his brief presence at the protests in support of Gen Z triggered the raid. He described how the police targeted him shortly after he arrived at the demonstration, forcing him to retreat to his home, which has since been under siege.

3. Wanjigi's Critique of Law Enforcement

Wanjigi criticized the police for what he described as a wasteful and unnecessary exercise. He reminded them of a similar raid seven years ago, during which they were also unable to locate him in his home. "Stop looking for me in my house, you will never find me," he said emphatically. He urged the police to issue a summons if they wished to question him, rather than resorting to home invasions.

He also dismissed claims by the police that they had recovered tear gas canisters from a car allegedly belonging to him. Wanjigi denied ownership of the vehicle in question and questioned the credibility of the police's findings.

4. Legal Response

In response to the raid, Wanjigi secured a court order on Friday, preventing the police from arresting him or restricting his movement. This legal move underscores his resolve to challenge what he perceives as harassment by law enforcement.

Jimi Wanjigi’s revelations about the Muthaiga raid have added a new dimension to the ongoing narrative surrounding his conflicts with the authorities. His decision to remain inside his home during the police operation, coupled with his critical remarks about law enforcement practices, reflects his defiance and determination to protect his rights. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how both Wanjigi and the authorities will navigate the legal and political implications of this latest episode.
